Two Big Shocks In Gordon Price Handicap Cup as Elite & Argae Hall B Are KO'd
So often the stars of the Gordon Price competition, the Elite fell victim to a superb performance from second division leaders, Herbert Chirbury, losing to them 7-6 on Friday night. Not only did Gary Gindrat and Pete Sheppard win the final frame against Mike Williams and Jason Bright, but they also stopped the Elite early on when they defeated Glyn Davies and Wayne Smith who had already wiped out the two frame handicap by winning the first two. A superb victory by the Herbert - they must be favourites now - but it is the Dolau next.
At the same time, another Premiership side bit the dust with Argae Hall B going down 7-6 away to third division's Bucanneers. Anthony Jenkins' side executed an excellent victory for the Buck and they now await the winner of two other Premiership sides, Herbert A or Nomads who play on Easter Sunday. Elsewhere, the Dolau overcame their 2-0 deficit to beat the Buck Hotel C by 6-2 and earn a semi-final against the Herbert Chirbury.
