Newtown Pool League; "Playing Premier Pool in Powys"
Fantastic European Results For Newtown Youth Pair
As
reported earlier this week, the European Championships are currently
underway in Salsey and attending to represent Wales are 18yrs old Drew
Hughes who is well known in the Newtown Pool League and is our current
Youth and Singles Champion; and with him is 10yrs old Connor Davies who is
the son of Alan Davies of the Nomads pool team. Connor is our Under 14s
Singles Champion.
Drew represented
Wales in the Under 21s Singles competition and won the tournament on
Sunday in clinical style, getting several 7-baller clearances to
defeat his opponent. On Thursday night, (2nd Oct) Drew was down to
the last 16 of the Mens Singles event and is still playing exceptionally
well. Good luck to him in the later rounds.
Young Connor was a member of the Wales Under 16s squad and helped them to win the final of the European team event, winning all three of his individual games to lift the trophy. Connor is pictured above holding his Welsh trophy.
Both these youngsters have done their country proud and we look forward to having Connor playing in the Newtown Pool League regularly, as Drew is now.
