Cup Matches Produce a Few Surprise Knockouts!
Whilst the big favourites all went through OK, there were shocks in store for some of the Premiership teams. Not such a shock, but the Lion A bit the dust at home to Dolau Inn, 5-3 with Mark Borland and Barry Owen doing the biggest damage. The Football Robins was a bit more of a shock as they slipped up 5-3 away to Argae Hall A, Phil Buckley and Clive Langford sealing it. The Monty Dons survived, but fell behind 2-1 to their Upper House B hosts, before finally winning 5-2 and the Nomads were at 2-2 before winning 5-2 away to the Bucanneers.
The most sporting gesture of the weekend, and perhaps the season, was the Unicorn players' offer to their Buck Off neighbours to play in the afternoon to allow Mark Jones to play (Mark is still on an evening curfew). Congratulations to the Unicorn for this generous offer, but it cost them as Mark was on fire and his team scraped home 5-3.
Two Second Division sides met at Cambrian B where Jammy's lads saw off the more fancied Bettws boys, beating them 5-2; and Cambrian A only just sneaked home, beating the Flying Shuttle 5-4.
Those teams involved in first round games last Sunday will have to arrange their second round games for Friday 30th November OR EARLIER please as the next round for all teams is set for Friday 14th December. (see full results and draw here)
